STORY
French elegance meets technical avant-garde
The Citroën DS revolutionized the automotive world from 1955 onwards – with futuristic design, hydropneumatic chassis and innovative technology.
The DS 19 Cabriolet shown here is a particularly rare original model, handcrafted by Henri Chapron, Citroën's official coachbuilder.
Only a few hundred genuine factory convertibles were built between 1960 and 1971. Today, they are considered masterpieces of French engineering and design.
Underneath the elegant sheet metal lies real high-tech from the 1950s:
A hydropneumatic suspension system ensures floating ride comfort, while the semi-automatic transmission and servo-assisted steering were far ahead of their time.
The convertible combines technical sophistication with sophisticated elegance – a rolling work of art that fascinated statesmen, artists and individualists alike.
